Modeling conventions are large events where aspiring models attend with the hope of being discovered, and agencies, scouts, and casting directors are looking to discover. They tend to take place in major cities for a weekend. During the event, there are runway walks and castings, and opportunities to meet with agencies and scouts. All models who register receive a number to identify them on the runway. If someone is interested in them, they take note of the number and followup. Some conventions also have seminars on modeling, and offer guidance on modeling and the industry. The convention will usually announce a winner.

This may all sound great and even exciting, but here is where things get interesting…

It’ll will generally cost anywhere between $5000-$10000 for the weekend. Not including airfare and hotel. These conventions will generally take anyone willing to pay. The truth is, the success rate of these conventions are painfully low. There are very few supermodels who made their start from a convention.

We believe that you don’t need to spend a fortune to enter the modeling industry. With and FMO membership, your profile is seen by plenty of industry professionals. With a stack of comp cards, you can actively go out and attend castings. Getting yourself out there will increase your chances of getting noticed.
